Graduates

The Sainsbury’s Bank Graduate Programme is in its third year. We are excited to be recruiting fresh talent from across the UK who will gain financial services experience at the Bank’s Edinburgh office. As a participant in this programme, you will have the opportunity to join a core area of the business and will be able to apply for open vacancies in any Bank location at the end of your placement.

Graduates with backgrounds in Mathematics, IT/Computer Science, Business/Management Studies, Marketing and Accounting/Finance who are interested in financial services careers will enjoy this challenging appointment.

We are eager to set our graduates up for success. You will be assigned a mentor who will provide guidance and assistance for the duration of your placement and will support you in your structured training and development. Visits to our sites will enable you to gain a full understanding of the Bank while you are developing valuable workplace skills.

How to apply

Our Graduate opportunities will be open to applications in late September 2015 for start dates in August 2016.

The selection process

If your application is successful, you will take part in a selection process that will include online testing and a half day assessment centre. On the day of the assessment, you will have a competency-based interview, deliver a brief individual presentation, and work with other candidates on a group task. You will also have a one to one session with one of our line managers to review the outcomes of your online tests and the opportunity to ask current Sainsbury’s Bank colleagues any questions you may have.

Operational Risk Manager - Permanent, Edinburgh (Closing 7th September)

Provide consultancy and support to the first line of defence to ensure successful implementation and embedding of risk processes across the first line of defence. A knowledge of mortgages and payments will be beneficial.

The role holder will be supporting Sainsbury's Bank objectives with the development of powerful statistical analysis/models which fits into the IFRS9 accounting standard. Developing first class credit risk quantitative techniques (e.g. data collection, mining, synthesis and analysis, and modelling). Understanding the requirements of IFRS9. Taking ownership for development, being the main point of contact and supporting the implementation of these models. Developing predictive modelling techniques and optimisation, including leading edge research, e.g. Logistic Regression, Decision Trees, and time series analysis. Producing and maintaining standard monitoring documentation, and ad-hoc data analysis.
