Get better security for less

Security needn't cost the earth - but it's something you'll want to get right for you and your family. Your home insurer will also want to see evidence of proper security measures. You should -

  • Fit appropriate door and window locks - your local police security officer can provide free advice here.
  • Consider fitting an alarm system if your home is often empty - research shows they are a good deterrent. Many insurers prefer alarms
    from companies that are NACOSS members.
  • Join your local neighbourhood watch - and put up stickers
    to show you belong - this could also reduce your contents
    insurance premium .
  • Keep handbags, mobile phones and other valuable items
    out of view of doors and windows.
