Make home improvements pay

Research shows that home improvements can add significant value to your home. But installing a new bathroom or kitchen - or even a loft extension - can be a daunting task, as well as a costly one. It's important to find tradesmen you can trust - or to know that you have the right skills if you are going the DIY route. Many home improvements will also require a loan to finance them - again it's important to shop around. A competitive finance offer will save you plenty in repayments.

For all home improvement projects:

  • Set a budget. How much will you need to spend to
    get the work done properly?
  • Set a timeframe. When will the project start?
    When will it finish?
  • Decide what tasks you can do yourself and what you will
    need professional help with.
