Choosing the right pet
What type of pet is best for you? Not all pets are suitable for all households. If you’re set on a dog, smaller breeds are better for young families – save the larger breeds for when the kids are a bit older and can enjoy helping to train and exercise them.
There’s your lifestyle to consider, too. Is there someone around most of the day to provide company for a new dog, or would you be better with a cat? Will it be safe outdoors, or is there a busy main road nearby?
Also, make sure you buy from a respectable breeder – a good one will breed for health and temperament and be only too happy to show you the mother and litter together.
Once you’ve addressed these and other issues, you’ll have a good idea which type of pet to choose.
