Preventative health measures
When you welcome a new dog or cat into your home, there are a number of health measures you’ll need to address. Puppies and kittens will need to be kept indoors until they’ve had their vaccinations against a number of serious illnesses around the 9-12 week mark.
You’ll also need to worm them regularly – every three months is fine for the first year, then every six months after that. It’s sensible to use a flea treatment at the same time.
Neutering is essential, too. As well as preventing unwanted litters, it stops tom cats spraying and can help with behaviour; especially in male dogs.
