Family blogging is all the rage - mummies are doing it, daddies are starting to do it to and even children are getting involved. The result is a huge resource of free, online parenting tips, funny stories, recipes and fun ideas written by families for families.
There are many sites out there, but we’ve some of our favourites. The blogs that follow are often funny, sometimes sad, but always worth a read.
A Modern Mother
Susanna, founder of BritMums, is A Modern Mother with a frank and witty take on life, love and parenting. Topics range from dealing with disastrous play-dates and ‘working mum guilt’ to coping with the bullying of your child.
More Than Just A Mother
Emily Carlisle’s More Than Just a Mother is an ‘extreme parenting’ blog. Ugly babies, mummy crushes and smug parents - no subject is taboo. This blog is the place to visit for parental gossip and honest, often hilarious, words of wisdom.
Chronicles of a Reluctant Housedad
In Chronicles of a Reluctant Housedad, full-time dad Keith shares cookery tips, confessions and complaints, all with a twist of dry, Mancunian humour. Keith gives us a dad’s-eye-view of everyday parenting challenges including ironing underpants and taking your kids to the pub.
Mymumdom
Jacq is a mum of four and the voice behind Mymumdom. Funny and charming, her blog discusses a whole range of parenting issues, from escapee hamsters to when and how to have ‘the birds and bees talk’ with your kids.
Mum In The Madhouse
Expert blogger and thrifty mummy, Jen, lives in The Madhouse. Jen’s posts talk about issues as varied as competitive parenting, when to ditch the dummy and the challenges of going barefoot in a Lego-strewn home.
A Mother’s Ramblings
A Mother’s Ramblings is Pippa’s blog containing cheeky anecdotes, recipes and reviews. Her Family Fun list of dream experiences gets ticked off as the family achieves them. We’re still waiting for them to milk a cow and try their hands at zoo-keeping, so watch this space!

Cherished by Me is written by Nova, ‘frazzled’ single mum to five children. It’s full of family photos, motherly musings, reviews and competitions. As a self-confessed chocoholic mum to five mini-chocoholics, Nova also shares her delicious recipes which, unsurprisingly, often involve chocolate.
Muddling Along Mummy
Hannah is the Muddling Along Mummy - juggling full-time work and family. There’s honest discussion on topics from trying to conceive, to toddler table manners. Regular feature ‘Friday Rant Club’ is where Hannah and her followers let off a bit of steam.
