Can I open a savings account with a cheque from someone else's bank account?
Yes, you can do this, however we would prefer a cheque drawn on your current account as this will help us check your identity and open your account faster.
If I open a savings account with a cheque drawn on my current account, should the cheque be made payable to Sainsbury's Bank or to me?

Can I set up direct debits or standing orders from my savings account?
No, this account is specifically for savings, although you can transfer money into a nominated account in your name, by telephone or by using online servicing.
Can I discuss my partners account?
To comply with the Data Protection Act, we can only discuss accounts or online registration with the account holder unless a valid Power of Attorney Document has been registered with Sainsbury's Bank.
Can a savings account be opened in trust?
Yes, it is recommended that children under 18 have an account in trust. To apply for a savings account in trust, simply download the application found in the other ways to apply section. Please remember to send in an original Birth Certificate or NHS card with your application.
Can I have my salary paid into my savings account?
