Power of attorney

What kind of Power of Attorney document do I need to enable me to take advantage of the online facility?

You will need a Power of Attorney document that provides the attorney with full authority to manage all of your Donor's financial affairs, now and in future. If the Power of Attorney document only allows you to deal with specific accounts on behalf of your Donor, or for a specified period of time, the Power of Attorney facility online will not be available. A Court of Protection Receivership Order, therefore,is not acceptable.

I have a "joint and several" Power of Attorney document, as I am not the only attorney. Can both of us use this online?

No, the online service will not support two attorneys online. Your Donor will have to choose which attorney will manage his/her financial affairs online.

How do I register for the Power of Attorney online facility?

If your Donor does not have existing accounts and you wish to open a new Internet Saver on their behalf and operate this through the online Power of Attorney facility please complete the Power of Attorney and Online Servicing Application. Then forward these together with your original Power of Attorney document, or a certified copy, and any required anti-money laundering verification for yourself and your Donor to the address below.

What if I already hold a Power of Attorney  for this donor for an existing savings account?

There is no requirement to send your original POA document as we will already hold details. However please complete the Power of Attorney and Online Servicing application and forward this to the address below together with anti-money laundering verification for yourself and the Donor.
