If you need to move out of your home as a result of an insured event, your policy will cover the cost so you can live somewhere else until the damage is repaired up to the maximum amount. If you have any pets the cost of any kennel fees for them will also be covered.
The cover is available where your main home becomes unfit to live in as a result of an insured event. These include fire, smoke, theft, storm, flood, subsidence, vandalism, fallen trees or branches, heavy snow, frost damage to water pipes or tanks, or if your home is occupied by squatters.
Insurance is available to cover the necessary cost of comparable, alternative accommodation up to the maximum amount. The limit will depend on which policy and insurance level you pick.
You can choose from:
- Sainsbury’s Home Insurance - up to £40 000
- Sainsbury’s Premier Cover Home Insurance - up to £80 000
- Sainsbury’s Home Insurance - up to £25 000
- Sainsbury’s Premier Cover Home Insurance - up to £50 000
- Sainsbury’s Home Insurance - up to £15 000
- Sainsbury’s Premier Cover Home Insurance - up to £30 000
The contents and combined policies also include cover for the cost of storing your belongings if you need to move them out of your home to keep them safe.

Make sure accommodation costs incurred are necessary and comparable and keep all receipts so you can send these with your claim.

The Home Repair Network
Sainsbury’s home insurance includes a Home Repair Network Service. The network includes a database of honest and reputable tradesmen used to help deal with your claim quickly. Only vetted builders are used and work and payment will be arranged with them directly. Any work performed by network builders on your house is guaranteed for 12 months.
