Top student gadgets

By Money Matters Team 20/08/2013

Is your son or daughter fully kitted out for university?

Your son or daughter probably has a lot of electronic gear already, but here are some of the best deals from Sainsbury’s should their equipment need replacing for the start of their course…

Laptop

Go for a slim-line and lightweight laptop, perfect for taking to lectures and the library.

Printer

If you think they’ll need it, get a printer with an in-built scanner so they can make their own photocopies as well.

TV

Most television sets these days come HD Ready but, if you want to treat your son or daughter, get a TV with an in-built DVD player for film nights.

Speaker dock

A speaker dock is smaller than a full stereo and, since some models come with a built-in alarm clock, they’ll never be late for lectures (at least, not due to a faulty alarm) and will always be ready to play music for a party.

Hard drive

A portable hard drive means your son or daughter can store work and carry it with them wherever they go – perfect for when they have a dissertation to print.

Fab freebie

The ‘NUS extra’ app highlights all the top student deals and discounts available to them with their NUS card. Plus they can take advantage of the offers wherever they are thanks to its GPS location sensor.
