Find a conveyancer

Whether you’re buying or selling a home, or releasing equity from a property that you currently own, you’ll need to appoint a conveyancer to carry out the legal work for you.

For house purchase applications

*You can choose a solicitor from our panel. Sainsbury’s Bank requires the legal work which will be carried out as part of your mortgage to be undertaken by a firm on our panel of solicitors. Therefore only solicitors from this list can act on behalf of Sainsbury's Bank.

You will instruct a solicitor to act on your behalf in connection with your home purchase transaction. You’ll be required to pay their legal fees as part of their work on your behalf unless we tell you that we will contribute to the legal costs as part of your product deal.

*If you choose to select a solicitor who isn’t on our panel, they can only act on your behalf. Sainsbury’s Bank will appoint another firm to act in their interests and you'll need to pay the costs for both your solicitor and the solicitor acting on behalf of Sainsbury’s Bank. This is called separate representation and means that you'll need to pay the costs for both your solicitor and the solicitor acting on behalf of Sainsbury’s Bank. You can discuss the process and cost implications of this with your solicitor.

For remortgage applications with fee assisted legals

Where you choose a fee assisted remortgage product we will nominate our own solicitor to act on our behalf. We will pay the standard legal fees incurred in connection with this straightforward remortgage. There may be additional costs which you must meet, our nominated solicitor will include a more detailed list of costs in their Welcome Pack, which you should read carefully.
