Your journey to NatWest
Legal ownership of certain credit cards, loans and savings accounts transferred to NatWest on 1st May.
On 3rd October, certain credit card accounts moved on to NatWest systems. If your credit card account has moved to NatWest and you have any queries or need support please contact NatWest.
We’ll continue to service transferring loans and savings accounts until they move on to NatWest systems later this year. There are no immediate changes to how you use and access your loan and/or savings account(s). Sainsbury’s Bank will continue to be your key point of contact, including for any new or existing complaints, disputes or claims.
You’ll find more information about the journey to NatWest on our dedicated webpage.
Customer Support
If you previously held a credit card account with us and it hasn’t transferred to NatWest, you can find more information about the support available to you at sainsburysbank.co.uk/accountsupport.
We’ll continue to manage loans and savings accounts until later this year. In the meantime, please continue to contact us as you normally would.
Important information about car & home insurance
We’ve entered into an agreement with Liverpool Victoria Insurance Company Limited (LV=), part of the Allianz Group, giving them the right to offer replacement car and home insurance policies to our existing car and home insurance customers. Right now, there is nothing you need to do, and we can reassure you that your existing policy will not be impacted. Your policy will remain in place with the cover you purchased, and you can still expect the same trusted service from us.
There is nothing you need to do just now; we will be in touch with more information about the change, and your options in the coming months.
If you have any questions, please follow this link to our frequently asked questions.
Our Pet, Life and Travel Insurance will continue to be available as it is today.
Savings accounts held in trust
A savings account held in trust is an account opened and managed by a trustee on behalf of a beneficiary, for example a parent could open an account and hold it in trust on behalf of their child until that child reaches a certain age.
Our savings accounts held in trust did not transfer to NatWest on 1 May 2025 and continue to be Sainsbury’s Bank products.
Later this year we’ll stop managing our savings accounts held in trust. This means that it’s important that account holders take action now to either transfer the funds to another account where they can continue being held in trust or to the beneficiary if they can now receive these funds. The Sainsbury’s Bank account can then be closed.
Inactive accounts
Savings, loans or credit card accounts can become inactive ( i.e. where there has been no activity on the account for a long time) but they could still hold a credit balance.
Later this year we will close all of our inactive accounts.
If you’re not sure you had a savings account with us, then you can trace it using mylostaccount.org.uk. It is an official site offering a free service that helps you trace lost current and savings accounts.
Financial Services Compensation Scheme
All of our savings products are covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS). For further information about the compensation provided by the FSCS visit www.fscs.org.uk
