Guaranteed courtesy car

Upgrade your courtesy car with this optional extra

Get a courtesy car to suit your needs

Let’s be real, some courtesy cars just don’t cut it. If you have a big family, a couple of large dogs, or camping equipment and bikes to transport regularly, you need a car that reflects your lifestyle.

That's where our Guaranteed Courtesy Car cover comes in.

What is courtesy car guarantee?

Our comprehensive insurance policy comes with a small hatchback courtesy car as a standard. But if you need some bigger wheels, you can choose to add Guaranteed Courtesy Car cover to your insurance for an additional cost.

Do that, and we'll get you a car the same size as yours for either 14 or 21 days, depending on which level of cover you choose.

You can also add this optional extra to our Third Party, Fire and Theft insurance.

What's covered

If you add our Guaranteed Courtesy Car option, we’ll provide a courtesy car if your car is:

  • Damaged in a fault claim* or a fire
  • Damaged by theft or vandalism
  • Stolen and not found

*A fault claim is an accident or loss where you are considered to blame, or where you or your insurance company can’t recover some or all of the costs from somebody else. Examples of claims that would affect your No Claims Discount include if your car is hit by an uninsured driver, your car is stolen, or you are held responsible for an accident.

We’ll match your own car in size

When the time comes, we'll provide a courtesy car that matches your needs, with the same number of seats and the same sized boot – where possible.

What's not covered?

There are various exclusions that you should be aware of before you buy a policy. For example, you won't be able to get a courtesy car if you're only claiming for windscreen or window damage.

What if we're not able to get a hire vehicle for you, or your car has been adapted to carry a disabled passenger? In those circumstances, we'll pay you £40 per day for 14 or 21 days (depending on your cover), or until your own car is fixed if that's sooner.

For full details on what’s covered and what’s not, have a look at our policy documents.

How to get your courtesy car after an accident

We'll deliver the car to you, and you can use it for either 14 or 21 days depending on the policy you've bought. The same applies in case of theft or damage to your car.

If we're  not able to get a hire vehicle for you, or your car has been adapted to carry a disabled passenger, we'll pay you £40 per day for 14 or 21 days (depending on your cover), or until your own car is fixed if that's sooner.

Do you need to insure a courtesy car?

Yes, but we’ll sort that for you. We'll give you a basic level of insurance and you'll need to make sure you're happy with that before you take to the road. You’ll get all the details of the insurance – including the excess you’ll need to pay if making a claim – along with the courtesy car when it’s delivered.

If you wish to take advantage of any other options which the hire company may offer you, such as Collision Damage Waiver, the cost of these upgrades and any administration fee will be your responsibility.

Further details can be found in our policy documents.
