Can I insure a second home?

No, we can only insure your primary residence.

Can I insure my home if it is used for business?

You can insure your home with us if you use your home for clerical business purposes, and we'll cover your business equipment for up to £5,000. We can’t insure your home if it is a place of business though, so for example if people come and visit in relation to your business or you sell things or do business in your home. We also don't cover any business stock or money in your home.

Do you offer home insurance cover in Northern Ireland?

Yes, just put your post code in when you get a quote and we'll give you our best price.

Do you offer insurance for buy to let properties?

No, sorry - we only provide cover for a house that you live in.

Do you offer Insurance for Landlords?

No, sorry - we only provide cover for a house that you live in.

Can I cover student belongings with your home insurance?

Yes. Our Contents Cover includes student cover as standard. It will insure student belongings up to £5,000 when the student is in full time education in the UK and living and studying away from home.

What liability cover is available?

Under our contents insurance, we provide occupiers and Public Liability insurance to the value of £2,000,000 and employers liability insurance to the value of £10,000,000 if any of your domestic staff are injured or die and you are legally liable.

Under our buildings insurance, we provide property owners liability to the value of £2,000,000.

There are exclusions though, take a look at our policy documents for more information on what is and isn't covered.

You can also choose to add Family Legal Protection, for an additional cost, to your Home Insurance. Learn more about Family Legal Protection.

Can I buy Home Emergency cover without home insurance?

No, sorry. We only offer Home emergency cover as an add on to a buildings or contents policy.

Is anything in my garden covered?

With our contents cover, as well as the growing trees, plants and shrubs in your garden, we include the loss or damage of:

  • Garden furniture
  • BBQs
  • Lawnmowers
  • Children’s toys

The insurer will pay up to £2,000 for a single claim.

With our buildings insurance, you are covered if your garden is damaged by emergency services gaining access to your home or preventing damage to your home. The insurer will pay up to £500 for each individual item affected.

Are my possessions covered away from my home?

You can add our Personal Possessions Cover, for an extra cost, and your things will be covered when you take them out with you. 'Personal possessions' means anything you would usually wear use or carry outside of your house, like your mobile phone, handheld games console, credit cards and money and jewellery.

Is my PC/Laptop covered?

Yes, personal computer equipment is covered for accidental damage under our standard contents insurance. For protection away from home you can add Personal Possessions Cover, for an extra cost.

Are Bicycles covered as standard under Contents Insurance?

Yes, bicycles on your property are covered under our contents insurance. If you want protection while you're out on the open road, you can add Personal Posessions Cover to your policy for an extra cost. This will then cover bikes away from home.

Is my musical instrument covered?

Yes, it would be covered under our contents insurance for some types of damage or theft inside your home. You can also add Personal Possessions Cover, for an extra cost, and then it will be covered away from the home too. If it’s worth more than £2,000 then you should tell us this when you take out your Personal Possessions Cover.

Please check the policy schedule and limits carefully to make sure this cover is sufficient for your instrument.

Are items in my garage or shed covered?

Yes, your garage and outbuildings are covered as long as they form part of your property. So if you have a garage or lock-up that's not on the insured property, you would need to arrange separate cover for this.

Is my home entertainment equipment covered?

Yes, home entertainment equipment is covered for accidental damage under our standard contents insurance.

Is my jewellery covered?

Yes, your contents insurance covers you for unspecified valuable items worth up to a maximum of £25,000 and for a single item up to £2,000, unless it is a specified item.

Specified items are things you've told us you own and want to insure under your contents insurance, so when you take out your policy, have a think about whether anything you own could be worth more than £2,000. Find out more about cover for your jewellery.

Are my mobile phone and tablet covered?

Your mobile and gadgets are covered for theft from your home under your main contents insurance. In addition your tablet is covered for accidental damage under your contents insurance. You can add accidental damage cover for your phone, with our optional extra Accidental Damage, for an additional cost. You can also cover them when you’re away from home by adding our optional extra Personal Possessions Cover for an additional cost.

Are my credit cards covered?

Your insurer will pay up to £500 per incident for the theft of money and credit cards from you home under our contents insurance. If you add our Personal Possessions Cover, for an extra cost, you will get the same cover out of the home too - that includes temporarily taking them abroad with you.

Am I covered for storm damage?

Yes, you are covered for storm damage, there is some damage we don't include in this though:

  • to hedges, fences and gates
  • by subsidence, heave or landslip
  • to radio, television, or satellite dishes
  • by frost
