Renew or Update your policy

When you last purchased your policy, you may have given permission for continuous payment to be taken.

If you did give permission, please see Automatic renewals below.

If you didn't give permission for continuous payment, please see Manual renewals below.

We'll post your renewal documents to you about a month before your policy expires. Please read them carefully to identify any details that are incorrect and need to be updated.

You'll then have to call 0800 210 0247* to accept the renewal and continue your cover. Remember to have your debit or credit card handy, or your bank details if you want to set up a Direct Debit.

*Calls may be recorded and are free from a landline and a mobile.

If you are an automatic renewal customer, your policy may be renewed automatically. We'll let you know that this will happen before your policy expires and give you details of the renewal terms.

If you don't want to renew, please get in touch before the renewal date. If you don't contact us and your policy is automatically renewed, deductions will continue to be made to pay for your renewal premium.

If your automatic renewal is by debit or credit card and your card details have changed or your card has expired, please phone 0800 210 0247* to provide your new card details. If you don’t do this, it may mean your insurance premium cannot be collected, and in this event, your car insurance would become Invalid – please remember it is a legal requirement to have car insurance.

*Calls may be recorded and are free from a landline and a mobile.

It’s important that you let us know about anything that could affect your cover under the policy. If you don’t tell us about these things you might not be covered if you need to make a claim. Please call us on 0800 210 0247* to let us know if:

  • You make changes to your car that improves its value, performance or attractiveness to thieves.
  • You change your car.
  • You want to use your car for a purpose not included in your schedule.
  • You become aware of any medical or physical condition of any driver named on the policy which may affect their ability to drive and must be notified to the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) or the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency Northern Ireland (DVLANI).
  • You or any other driver named on the policy are convicted of a motoring offence, other than fixed penalty parking offences.
  • You or any other named in the policy are convicted of any offence relating to fraud, arson or dishonesty.
  • You change the address where you normally keep your car.
  • You change your annual mileage.
  • You, or anyone covered by this policy changes jobs, including part time.

You must also let us know about any accident, theft or loss even if it’s not covered by your insurance and regardless of blame.

We might charge you an administration fee if you make any changes to your policy during the period of cover. These charges are shown in your policy schedule.

* Calls may be recorded and are free from a landline and a mobile.

Tell us in advance when you want cover for your new car to start. Just call us on 0800 210 0247* with the details of your new car. Your premium may change and we may make an administration charge. There’s information about fees and charges in your policy schedule.

* Calls may be recorded and are free from a landline and a mobile.

If you decide to suspend your cover we’ll still collect your payments. If your suspension lasts for more than 28 days we’ll return the premium for the time your cover was suspended in excess of 28 days.

Remember, if your car is off the road you need to tell the DVLA (or DVANI in Northern Ireland) and request a SORN (Statutory Off–Road Notification) certificate.

If you want to cancel your policy for any reason, call us on 0800 210 0247. We’re open Monday to Friday 8am-9pm, Saturdays 9am-5pm and Sundays 10am-5pm. Calls may be recorded and are free from a landline and a mobile.

Your cancellation rights are in your policy booklet. We might charge a cancellation fee. This is shown in your policy schedule.
