What if I don't have anything from 'List A' or 'List B'?

If you don’t have any of the documents shown in List A and/or List B, please Contact Us to discuss your application.

I’ve been asked to send a Bank statement in addition to an item from List B. Will a single bank statement satisfy both requirements?

If we’ve asked you to provide items from List B and a Bank statement, a single Bank statement will satisfy both List B and Bank Statement requirements.

Please note that any Bank / Building Society Statements must show the sort code, account number and transactional information as well as your name and address and be from the account whose details you provided during your application.

Why does my joint applicant have different document requirements to me?

We treat customers as individuals even on a joint application, so we need to confirm the identity and address of both parties.

What is a certified copy?

A ‘certified copy’ is a photocopy of the original document which has been signed, stamped and dated by an independent professional - for example a doctor, solicitor, notary, accountant, independent financial advisor or post office/bank branch official. They’ll also need to print their name in full and provide their business contact details. This will allow us to contact and verify the certifier as part of our checks. You may be charged for this service.

When we get these, we’ll record the information and return any originals or certified copies to you.

Who can certify my documents?

  • Post Office
  • Bank / Branch Official
  • Solicitor/Lawyer/Notary
  • Doctor (Medical)
  • Accountant
  • Authorised Financial Intermediary e.g. an Independent Financial Advisor or an Authorised Mortgage Intermediary
  • Serving Police Officer (The collar number should be obtained)
  • Local Councillor
  • Chartered Surveyor

How do I certify my documents?

Take the photocopied document and the original and ask the person to certify the copy by writing ‘Certified to be a true copy of the original’. (The Post Office have a standard form which states “this copy is a true likeness of the original”). Note: If you’re sending us a certified copy of a photo-card driving licence we need to see both the front and back.

The certifier will need to print their name in full, sign and date it and provide their business contact details and company stamp.

Will it cost me to have a document certified?

Some certifiers may charge for this service. Please check with the relevant person or company that is certifying your document(s) to understand any charges.

Can I send documents printed from the internet?

  • Bank / Building Society Statements which must show the sort code, account number and transactional, or summary transactional, information as well as your name and address
