Foreign currency is still the best way to pay when you’re abroad. We’ve gathered some of the most common questions our customers ask about ordering travel money from us, along with our answers.

Travel money is foreign currency that you can buy or order in advance and take with you when you go abroad.

You can buy travel money from us, or get our Travel Money Card.

That depends on the exchange rate (which can change daily) and how you order your travel money.

You can use our currency converter tool to find out how much foreign currency you’ll get for your pounds online today. Rates may vary depending on whether you order in store and online.

Order your currency online or at one of our travel money bureaux. We have bureaux in selected Sainsbury’s stores across the UK. Use our travel money bureau finder tool to locate your nearest store.

Order your currency online for home delivery.* We can only deliver to the home address registered for the card you’re using to pay.

The maximum order value is £2,500 per person, per day. The minimum order value for home delivery is £100*.

No, we don't charge any administration fees when you order currency from us.

We don’t charge any extra when you buy foreign currency by card.

Some card providers may charge a cash advance fee and interest for buying currencies. Cash advance fees will not show on your travel money order, but you’ll be able to see them on your card statement. If you’re not sure you should check with your card issuer.

There is no cash advance fee when you use a Sainsburys Bank Credit Card. No interest will be charged, as long as the full outstanding balance on the credit card is cleared during the current billing cycle. If a balance remains on the account at the end of the billing cycle, interest will be charged and may apply to the currency purchased.
