Advertising & reward cover for lost pets

Help to get missing pets back home

Provided by Pinnacle Insurance plc

The advantages of advertising & reward cover

It’s not unusual for curious cats or distracted dogs to get lost. Our advertising & reward cover helps to bring them back home.

It pays for:

  • The cost of advertising locally
  • Rewards paid for returned pets

Whether your pet is missing, stolen or lost, our advertising & return cover helps to pay for the publicity campaign. The amount we’ll pay depends on your policy and will only cover up to the maximum benefit as detailed in your policy. As shown in the table below.

Focusing on local advertising will give you the best chance of getting your cat or dog back home quickly. The more people you tell, the better chance you have of finding your pet.

Extra cover for missing pets

Sometimes it’s just not possible to find stolen or missing pets, even if you’ve placed adverts and offered a reward.

We can’t ever replace your lost pets, but our pet insurance does include theft or stray [EM1] cover. If your cat or dog is still missing after 30 days, we’ll pay you what you paid for your pet (up to the maximum cover limit you select).

What’s not covered by advertising & reward?

Our advertising & reward cover is pretty comprehensive, but it does have some limits to look out for.

We will not pay costs for:

  • Pets that go missing within 14 days of you buying your insurance
  • Rewards paid to family members
  • Rewards claimed by the person looking after your pet when it went missing
  • Dogs that are not microchipped
  • National advertising - we only cover local. If your pet goes missing, it’s most likely they’re somewhere nearby

Making an advertising & reward claim

All you have to do is log in to My Pet Portal and you can submit and manage your claim online. Simple.

To make sure all your costs are included, we’ll ask you to fill out a claim form. Or call our claim team on 0344 543 1032 to get one.

We’ll need:

  • Receipts for your advertising costs and rewards
  • Official paperwork confirming your dog’s microchip number

And that’s it. We’ll get on with paying your claim so you’re not out of pocket for long. Based on claims paid in 2018 by Cardif Pinnacle, we pay 97% of claims in five working days.

Got any questions?

If you need any extra information, our FAQs cover the most common questions on pet insurance.

How much should I offer as a reward if my pet goes missing?

When you report your pet missing to your vet, they’ll be able to give you advice on the sort of reward you should offer. The main aim is to make sure people are on the lookout for your lost pet, so don’t forget about handing out leaflets, placing adverts and sharing social media posts.

Our guide to finding your missing pet has more helpful hints, tips and advice.
