With the colder weather on its way, you can bet your bottom dollar the number of callouts for broken-down cars will increase. So prepare for the worst and carry a winter emergency kit in your car. Here’s what you need:
- Compact snow shovel
- Windshield scraper
- Small broom (to brush loose snow off windows)
- Torch with extra batteries
- Water and snack food
- Extra hats, socks and mittens
- First aid kit with pocket knife
- Blankets or sleeping bag
- Tow chain or rope
- Road salt, sand or cat litter for traction
- Booster cables
- Whistle for attracting attention
- Mobile phone adapter to plug into lighter
